What is the prerequisite for CHP course?
There is no prerequisite for this course. CHP is level 1 of HIPAA Certification. No other educational qualifications required. Please refer to the HIPAA Roadmap document at the end of this document.

How can I study for my CHP certification?
You can prepare for your CHP certification in three different ways:
1. Instructor led Training for 3 days. Cost $1650
2. Online Courses. $475
3. Self study through CHP certification study kit $325
This cost does not include exam fees.
My busy schedule does not allow me to attend instructor led training for CHP. How can I prepare for the CHP exam?
You should buy the self study CHP certification kit from the HIPAA Academy. This is the same study material used in the instructor led training. To buy the kit, please visit HIPAA Academy e-store.
What is the cost of CHP exam?
$495 per exam.
Where can I take the CHP exam?
The exam is available online. You can take this test from any where at anytime. For more information, please visit here.
What is a CHP exam voucher?
There is no exam voucher available for CHP test. You will have to pay by credit card when you take the test.
What is the exam retake policy for CHP?
If the candidate does not pass the CHP certification examination, he or she may register to take the certification examination online at a discount of $100.
How can I register for instructor led training for CHP?
You can register by paying through credit card online by visiting our e-store. http://www.ecfirst.biz. To pay through check, download the fax form and send it with the check. It is advisable to fax the form on 515.453.8471 so that a seat is reserved till the payment is received.
How can I receive study material for instructor led training before the class?
After we receive your paid registration, we will send you study kit for the class so you can prepare for the training. The kit is sent to you based on shipping method selected by you.
After passing the exam when will I receive the certification after I pass the certification test?
The certificate will be sent by HIPAA Academy™. If it is not received in within 4 weeks of passing then please contact Sunny.Chng@ecfirst.com
Do I need to renew my CHP certification?
You are not required to renew the CHP certification if you have taken the test after June 20, 2003, it will be valid forever. If you have taken test before June 20, 2003 you are required to retake the test.

Certified HIPAA Security Specialist ™ (CHSS™) FAQ

What is the prerequisite for CHSS™ certification?
CHSS™ is level 2 of HIPAA certification. To receive CHSS™ certification you must have Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP) credential.
1. Individuals with recognized security credentials can be awarded the CHSS™ certification upon completion of the instructor led course from a HIPAA Academy Certified Instructor offered at HIPAA Academy or its authorized training partner, and passing the CHP examination.
2. The recognized security credentials accepted for CHSS credit are: CISSP/ SSCP from (ISC)², SCNP/ SCNA from SCP, Security+ from CompTIA.

What is the difference between CHA™ and CHP certification?
The CHA training provides a high level overview of the requirements and impact of HIPAA legislation and regulations on any organization that retains personal health information. The CHA course examines the impact on patients, providers, and payment services. It also presents a high level overview of the HIPAA security legislation and clarifies the impact of those regulations on data processing. The CHP course a much more in depth presentation of the details of both HIPAA Privacy and Security legislation. The CHP delves into the details of the new standard transaction sets, the required privacy documents, and other requirements necessary to become HIPAA compliant.
