  1. What is the prerequisite for CHSS™ certification?
    CHSS™ is level 2 of HIPAA certification. To receive CHSS™ certification you must have Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP) credential.
    1. Individuals with recognized security credentials can be awarded the CHSS™ certification upon completion of the instructor led course from a HIPAA Academy Certified Instructor offered at HIPAA Academy or its authorized training partner, and passing the CHP examination.
    2. The recognized security credentials accepted for CHSS credit are: CISSP/ SSCP from (ISC)², SCNP/ SCNA from SCP, Security+ from CompTIA.

    1. Computer security technical staff of any organization that retains personal healthcare information

  3. I am a security professional why should I go through CHP training?
    The CHP training is very important for any individual who wants to eventually achieve CHSS™ certification because of the in depth HIPAA regulations training gained in CHP education. Without a solid foundation in HIPAA privacy regulations, it is difficult to place the understanding of the HIPAA security rules into their proper context. The HIPAA regulations for privacy and security are linked and complement each other.

  4. How can I study for my CHSS™ certification?
    You can prepare for your CHSS™ certification in three different ways
    1. Instructor led Private Class for 2 days. Cost $1350 per person
    2. Online Courses. $380
    3. Self study through CHSS certification study kit $795

  5. My busy schedule does not allow me to attend instructor led training. How can I prepare for the exam?
    You should buy the self study certification kit from the HIPAA Academy. This is the same study material used in the instructor led training.

  6. What is the cost of CHSS™ exam?
    $495 per exam.

  7. Where can I take the CHSS™ exam?
    The exam is available online. You can take this test from any where at anytime. For more information, please visit here.

  8. What is a CHSS™ exam voucher?
    There is no exam voucher available for CHSS™ test. You will have to pay by credit card when you take the test.

  9. What is the exam retake policy for CHSS™?
    If the candidate does not pass the CHSS™ certification examination, he or she may register to take the certification examination online at a discount of $100.

  10. How can I register for instructor led training for CHSS™?
    You can register by paying through credit card online by visiting our e-store. Click here to Register. To pay through check, download the fax form and send it with the check. It is advisable to fax the form on 515.453.8471 so that a seat is reserved till the payment is received.

  11. After passing the CHSS™ exam when will I receive the certificate?
    After we receive your paid registration, we will send you CHSS™ study kit for the class so you can prepare for the training. The kit is sent to you based on shipping method selected by you.

  12. Do I need to renew my certification?
    You are not required to renew the CHP certification if you have taken the test after June 20, 2003, it will be valid forever. If you have taken test before June 20, 2003 you are required to retake the test.
