- What is the prerequisite for CHP course?
There is no prerequisite for this course. CHP is level 1 of HIPAA Certification. No other educational qualifications required. Please refer to the HIPAA Roadmap document at the end of this document.

- How can I study for my CHP certification?
You can prepare for your CHP certification in three different ways:
- Instructor led Training for 2 days. Cost $1650 (Not include Exam fees)
- Online Courses. $475 (Not include Exam fees)
- Self study through CHP certification study kit $795 (Included exam fee)
- My busy schedule does not allow me to attend instructor led training for CHP. How can I prepare for the CHP exam?
You should buy the self study CHP certification kit from the HIPAA Academy. This is the same study material used in the instructor led training. To buy the kit, please visit HIPAA Academy e-store.
- What is the cost of CHP exam?
$495 per exam. What is the cost of CHSS™ exam?
$495 per exam.
- Where can I take the CHP exam?
The exam is available online. You can take this test from any where at anytime. For more information, please visit here.
- What is a CHP exam voucher?
There is no exam voucher available for CHP test. You will have to pay by credit card when you take the test.
- What is the exam retake policy for CHP?
The retake policy at HIPAA Certificatin Online for HIPAA exams:
If the candidate does not pass the CHP certification examination, he or she may register to take the certification examination online at a discount of $100.
- How can I register for instructor led training for CHP?
You can register by paying through credit card online by visiting our e-store. http://hipaaacademy.stores.yahoo.net/cehiprcse22.html. To pay through check, download the fax form and send it with the check. It is advisable to fax the form on 515.453.8471 so that a seat is reserved till the payment is received.
- How can I receive study material for instructor led training before the class?
Our certified training instructor will hand out study kit to you at the begining of the class.
- After passing the exam when will I receive the certification after I pass the certification test?
The certificate will be sent by HIPAA Academy™. If it is not received in within 4 weeks of passing then please contact Sunny.Chng@ecfirst.com
- Do I need to renew my CHP certification?
You are not required to renew the CHP certification if you have taken the test after June 20, 2003, it will be valid forever. If you have taken test before June 20, 2003 you are required to retake the test.

If you are planning to pursue CHP certification, you don’t need CHA™ certification as CHA™ is subset of CHP.
- Do I need CHSS™ certification?
CHP is level 1 of HIPAA Certification. You can pursue CHSS™ certification, if you have Information technology OR Security OR technical background. If you are part of the security compliance team or if you are trying to help your client with HIPAA Security compliance, you should pursue CHSS™ certification.
- How will this certification help me in finding a job?
Certification in HIPAA regulations can provide a distinguishing factor for potential employer selection of employees in the healthcare information technology industry.
- How will this certification enhance my skills?
